Sea Life Park [ √ ]

I really love underwater life and I was very excited when Alicia invited me to join her and her kiddos in a day at Sea Life Park!  It was a gorgeous day and we saw so many fun things!

This pic does not do the size of this Sting Ray justice!  It was huge!

Here is a short video of how beautifully and gracefully a sting ray swims.

Hello sharky!

Remember, fish are friends... and so are humans!

Nap time! It's crazy because I thought sharks had to constantly swim, I guess not!

I've never seen the under view of a sea anemone!

Alicia's sweet kids, Chloe and Brayden, enjoying the shark tank.

I LOVE SEA TURTLES!!!

They're so cute! :)

LOL Chloe and I pretending to be the tiki man

Oh yeah, short break to enjoy the good stuff... Dole Whip.

Mmm....

A seal just taking a little swim

Gorgeous surrounding view of the park!  Gotta love this side of the island!

Feeding the birds

I'm pretty pleased with this picture.  I was holding Chloe so she could reach the birds and I still was able to snap some great pics! :D

This little guy was HUNGRY!

Hahaha, I think Brayden is excited for his shark!

Chloe and her cute pink dolphin waiting for the Dolphin Show to start!

Balancing a ball

This is a Whal-phin.  A whale + dolphin hybrid.  The father was a faux killer whale and the mother was a rescued dolphin.  She looked like a REALLY big, dark dolphin, but with a short whale nose.  I would of never thought of this, but she was super cute.  Usually hybrid animals are sterile, but this Whal-phin had a baby a couple years ago!

The Dolphin show was AMAZING!

These pictures don't do it justice, so here's a short video of the dolphin show

Vibrant Hibiscus

It really was a beautiful day!

Another Sting Ray, this one is a lot smaller than the first one

Sea Lions playing and sunbathing

Food?

At the touch tank!  Too bad the turtles were just for looking, otherwise, I would of given him lots love.

This is a Sea Cucumber!  One of my favorite sea creatures.  It felt very velvety, which surprised me.  I expected it to feel smooth and slippery.  Sea cucumbers are my favorite because they are so odd.  When they are being threatened by a predator, they will detach their intestines, vomit them out, this distracts the predator into eating the intestines while the sea cucumber gets away and going into hibernation to regrow their insides.  Wild huh?!?

Very pretty Sea Star.  Looks just like Peach from Finding Nemo! lol

The Sea Lion Show!  It was a Miss America Contest! lol Here are videos for:

Miss California won by metered applause :)

We waited all day for this guy to finish his nap so we could say hello!  A Tropical Penguin.

We really had a great day!

I was glad to hear from one of the people from the Park that the Dolphins were rescues.  The aviary (which we didn't go into) was a rescue and for birds on the endangered species list.  All the other animals were breed in captivity.  I'm a big proponent for animals living in their natural habitat and not confined.  But, I am also a big proponent for animal rehabilitation and sanctuaries.  Glad to know Sea Life Park participates in that.
