If I haven't mentioned before, I have an awesome neighbor. Her name is Amy. She mentioned to me a while ago, that she had NEVER carved a pumpkin. Growing up, her family didn't celebrate Halloween, so she's never participated in the time honored tradition. So, I promised her this year that we'd carve pumpkins together.
Well, last night we went to the commissary, and they didn't have any pumpkins. So we went to the other commissary on Hickam Air Force Base. They didn't have pumpkins either. So standing in the produce area, we called Target. They didn't have pumpkins either. So when Amy hung up, I jokingly suggested that we carve watermelons (we were standing next to a whole bunch). She said, "WHY NOT?!?!" lol So we grabbed the smallest watermelons we could find and took them home :)
Yes, these were the smallest ones we could find! lol
Here's my melon!
We cut holes in the bottom...
Amy carving her first watermelon!
Hi! Having fun?
Yikes! Beware!!!
Bottoms are cut! Mmm... the watermelon is DElicious!
This is just ONE of the two bowls of watermelon insides that we scrapped out!!!
Here's a video of the watermelon insides, lol.
Amy had the greatest idea to make her pumpki-melon into Stewie from Family Guy! So I drew it up for her and here she is carving away :D
MWHAHAHAHA
I tried to make mine into Jack Skellington, The Pumpkin Watermelon King. It turned out pretty well I think! :)
Here he is lit up.
HAHAHA... this was a text from the hubby. He was at work (still) and let me know he was gonna be another hour or so. Amy said he's probably going to say "You mean pumpkins?" and HE DID! HAHAHAAHA
Here's Amy's Stewie lit up :D
Now to finish them off, painting them orange!
Tada! Our Pumpki-melons!
I think the pink of the watermelon insides make pumpki-melons even creepier!
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
